Tianeptine is a relatively new drug and was discovered by The French Society of Medical Research in the 60s. It is available in France and some other EU countries under the name Coaxil. It has several other names which include Stablon, Tatinol, Tianeuax and Salymba. Tianeptine is not available to use in some countries which include UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Logs about the Tianeptine headache typically say that it is mild if it does at all occur.

Tianeptine Headache, a Symptom of Depression

It is used mainly to treat depression but can also be used for the treatment of Parkinsons Disease, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome. Tianeptine has anxiolytic in it and is an SSRE drug (selective Serotonin reuptake enhancer). A clinical trial showed that it was as effective for treatment purposes as the drug amitriptyline when dealing with those that have irritable bowel syndrome. Unlike some other antidepressants, Tianeptine has very few reactive side effects. However, in some countries, people had become addicted to its use and in Russia people were found to be injecting it and in Bahrain, there were cases of misuse. It is now a controlled drug and can only be brought on a prescription. There are few side effects reported as it is considered to be a fairly safe drug, however, reported side effects can include dry-mouth, insomnia, constipation, vivid dreams, drowsiness, and dizziness.

 

The recommended dosage to take is a daily dose of the 12.5 mg formula for up to three times a day. It is not recommended to take more than this as this will increase your dependency on it and can cause side effects. Tianeptine can brought in tablet, capsule and powder form. It can take 2 – 6 weeks for people to start experiencing the benefits but some have reported feeling better with symptoms disappearing after just a week. Many will need to take the drug for longer than this according to medical advice for up to six months to ensure that your symptoms have disappeared and you feel completely better.

Tianeptine has been proven to work as an antidepressant for those that have the condition and other symptoms. Now it has been regulated it is harder for those that abused it to be able to do so. Due to its lack of side effects it makes it safe for those who are withdrawing from alcohol and the elderly. It can be beneficial to a number of people and their symptoms can disappear with its use.
