Sometimes all I can do is collapse on the couch when I get home. Retaining information can be difficult, since everything comes at me so fast. How Does Modafanil Work? Modafinil vs Aniracetam in their Mechanism of Action
The drug Modafanil is most commonly used to treat certain types of sleep disorders. It can also be prescribed for people with ADHD, and other common mood disorders. But the thing that makes it so attractive to nine to fivers the world over is its ability to improve cognitive function during periods of sleep deprivation.
The drug does what it does by raising the histamine levels in certain parts of the brain. This is said to promote alertness, but it also triggers a response from the brain to produce another chemical called dopamine, which is what helps us be smarter. Modafanil can influence the dopamine transmitters in the brain, which leads to a buildup of dopamine levels in certain areas, most often those related to cognitive function and reasoning.
That’s the gist of how Provigil works, by raising dopamine and overloading your receptors with it, it creates a pretty potent stimulant effect. Aniracetam however works in a way that is much different than Modafinil. While Aniracetam absolutely can be thought of as something that “stimulates your mind,” it is by know means a stimulant drug by the traditional sense of the word (and by that logic neither as Modafinil or Provigil, as they are technically classified as “Wakefulness-Promoting Drugs.” Aniracetam is a racetam nootropic and is actually fairly mild. It’s potency however comes with its synergy with Modafinil, in that they both blend together very well, and help to increase mood, memory, smoothness of the drug’s effect, and overall clarity of thought. Aniracetam also has the quite interesting effect of being able to reduce anxiety in the user, helping to take the edge off of Modafinil and make the ride of stimulation all the more smooth.
Is Modafanil Safe? Modafinil vs Aniracetam regarding safety
Before you start taking any new drug or supplement, you should make sure that it is safe for you. The best way to go about this is to consult with your doctor before starting to take Modafanil or any other new drug. Your doctor will probably tell you that Modafanil is generally safe for people to take. If you live in the United States he or she might remind you that this drug is only approved by the FDA to treat certain types of problems and disorders. Regarding safety, Modafinil and Aniracetam are both comparable in this regard, as Modafinil and Provigil are both FDA approved drugs, and Aniracetam is a powerful yet mild brain-supplement that has over a half century of research behind it to back its effectiveness. Both drugs show great premise with regards to safety, and are entirely safe to stack together since once is a stimulant and one is more of a stable, mellow drug.
But every person reacts differently to medication, and there have been some side effects reported with the usage of Modafanil. Some of these side effects include headaches, nausea, increased anxiety, sleeplessness, and dry mouth. There is no way to safely predict who will experience these side effects and who won’t. That is why it is so crucially important to talk to your doctor before taking Modafanil or any other drugs like it. Modafinil vs Aniracetam and their overall verdict is that Aniracetam is slightly weaker but also a much safer nootropic for regular, occasional or long-term use.
It should also be noted that there is a potential for more serious side effects to develop when taking this drug. Some people experienced fever like symptoms, and others reported irregular heart rhythms and the proliferation of sores in the mouth and other sensitive areas. Doctors say that the appearance of these symptoms means you should stop taking the drug right away and seek medical help.

These are just a number of the many websites that sell or blog about one or more of these potent nootropics. I have yet to see a website that offers a stack of both of these compounds at once, so to blend them both together will require you to buy each from different websites. In the next paragraph, we’ll look at Aniracetam vs Modafinil and the drugs that they are safe to stack with on a regular basis overall.
Aniracetam vs Modafinil and Common Nootropics Stacked with these Supplements
Piracetam-Piracetam is the original nootropic drug, and for good reason. Founded in the 1960’s, it has become the base for loads of other nootropic supplements, and has over fifty years of solid clinical trial research to back up its effectiveness.
Oxiracetam: Called the speedy racetam for how it improves stimulation and mental processing speeds in the brain.
Adrafinil: While I would not recommend that you stack Adrafinil with some of these other Smart Drugs, like Modafinil, (two stimulants stacked together is really never good) it can usually be stacked with Aniracetam without any real problems as long as the two are taken in low dosages.
Pramiracetam-The most powerful racetam on the market, 30 times more powerful than that of Piracetam.
Noopept-Noopept is an Ampakine and peptide based racetam nootropic drug that is said to be as much as five thousand times more powerful than Piracetam on a dosage by dosage basis. Luckily the typical dosage for this is only 10 milligrams at a time. If you’re going to stack this with any other nootropics, your best bet is to keep the dosage as low as possible, 10mg usually does the job.
Phenylpiracetam-Another stimulant nootropic drug. Basically Piracetam with an added Phenyl molecule which gives it additional dopamine enhancing effects. Not recommended to stack this with any other smart Drugs except for maybe CDP Choline, as it is very powerful and choline can help to get rid of the racetam headache that may occur with it.
Sunifiram-Don’t event try stacking this one or try this one at all. Way too risky and is too stupid to take on its own let alone with another drug on top of it. This is coming from experience here:)
CDP choline: One of the cheapest and most popular choline sources on the market.
Alpha GPC Choline-The strongest form of choline available.
Alpha Brain-A great choline stack overall. Alpha brain helps users to improve memory, mood and focus, and having regularly taken this supplement, I can say that the claims made about it are not over hyped and that it is actually a really great product.
Centrophenoxine-A unique form of choline with added DMAE to it, making it not only effective for use as a choline source but also as a nootropic on its own.
Choline: Consists of choline based nootropics and additional choline sources such as CDP Choline, Centrophenoxine, Alpha Brain, Uridine Monophosphate and Alpha GPC Choline.
Nuvigil: A brand name for Armodafinil, it is actually really not recommended that you stack this with anything, too strong of a wakefulness-promoting and stimulant nootropic drug, and can have some pretty nasty side effects if you take too high of a dosage. Choline may be the only exception to this rule that I can think of if you’re looking to try Nuvigil out for yourself.
These are just a few of the many nootropics that provigil and Aniracetam are commonly stacked with. It is actually not recommended that you use Sunifiram with these, as it is extremely potent and can really lead to some harsh side effects. Modafinil vs Aniracetam are comparable but both have their own sets of rules and regulations about them that are different.
Is Modafanil Right For You? Modafinil vs Aniracetam and their Effects Overall
So is this drug right for you? That depends on a few things. First you need to be sure that you won’t have any of the adverse reactions mentioned here. Secondly, you need to be sure that you can regulate your usage to the prescribed dosages. A lot of people have noticed a falloff in the effectiveness of the drug after repeated usage. This is sometimes called stacking. The best thing to do is to stick to the prescribed dosage. Barring that, the best thing to do is to take Modafanil early in the day. This allows you to maximize the benefits, while not interfering with your night time sleeping habits. Modafinil vs Aniracetam with regards to their effects are actually quite different. The rundown of both of these drugs effects is that Modafinil and Aniracetam both have pro’s and cons to look out for, which include.
Aniracetam: Great stabilizing Smart Drug for mood, memory, focus and clarity of thought. Relatively mild in it’s stimulation compared to Modafinil. Similar to nicotine in its overall effects in that it gives great stimulation but also reduces anxiety, both of these drugs are non-addictive in the general sense of the word.
Modafinil: Powerful wakefulness-promoting stimulant, helps the mind get amped up and ready for battle.
But the most important thing you need to ask yourself is whether you need to be taking this drug at all. If you find your cognitive functions are impaired due to lack of sleep then go get some sleep. The only time that staying up for days is acceptable is when there is some kind of dire emergency involved. The best thing you can do for yourself is not burn yourself out in the first place.
