What is Adderall? My personal experiences with the Drug and With the Adderall High
Adderall is a prescription stimulant drug that is used most commonly for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder) ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and other illnesses much less frequently, such as narcolepsy, fatigue, and obesity. The Adderall high, the main subject of this article, is more common than not in those users who are still newbies to the drug. Due to their fresh receptors, they are the demographic group that is most likely to experience the manic and euphoric high that Adderall can provide. In more experienced Adderall users, this “high” is greatly diminshed due to weakened and down regulated receptors, a very common phenomenon in those that have been taking the drug for awhile. In more experienced users, the Adderall high only occurs when higher dosages of the drug when normal are taken, when taking the regular day to day dosage, more of a slightly enhanced baseline state will occur, compared to the extreme manic highs that Adderall will cause in new users.
What is the Adderall High Like?
The first time I took Adderall was a 30 milligram XR pill and I’ll admit that it was incredibly strong, much, much stronger than I’d imagined it would be. I’m not saying this to promote its use or anything, just giving you my personal experience so that you know what you’re in for if you have yet to use the drug. The first time I took the drug, it literally felt like the scene in the movie “Limitless,” where he takes the pill and everything turns golden sepia, and he is moving a million miles an hour. If you don’t know what scene I’m talking about, see the below video.
Obviously it wasn’t quite this pronounced, but generally speaking this is the closest thing I can compare it to. Before I took the drug, I had read reviews online about your “first time on Adderall,” and honestly they seemed just about too good to be true. What they said however, was almost entirely true. I first took the pill for a big final exam, and I remember the day so vividly it’s ridiculous, even though it’s been nearly a decade later. I took the pill at 5 o’clock in the morning, and like anyone else does when they wake up at 5am, as soon as I swallowed the pill, I fell straight back asleep again, I think I actually shut my alarm clock off too and forgot to simply hit the snooze button, so if I didn’t wake up on my own, I would sleep through the exam. Luckily taking a 30 milligram Adderall pill for your first time (XR might I add) is super potent, and is probably the best alarm clock in the planet as your brain becomes absolutely flooded with dopamine, and you are the most awake you’ve ever been in your entire life (just writing this is bringing back memories, that’s how powerful your focus is while on it). Anyhow, basically the pill lasted from like 6am when it kicked in all the way until about midnight that night, and I was hyper-focused the entire time.
After the five hour exam I had energy to go home and work on my novel, get ahead on class work, talk to everyone in my apartment complex, talk on the phone with my girlfriend for 2 hours and then proceed to kill it at Call of Duty for the last 6 hours or so before I went to bed, feeling super energetic and euphoric literally the entire time. So yes, an Adderall high is not only a possiblity, but almost a guarantee the first time you take it, so if you’re a newbie to the drug, enjoy the euphoric high, because unforunately all good things must come to an end, and it will soon go away, never to return again unless you take incredibly high dosages…..which is where it gets dangerous.
Adderall Among College Students and The Adderall High They Feel
For the most part, college students if they’re a newbie to Adderall, is going to feel effects that are very similar to that of what I just described above. Even if the user is fairly experienced with Adderall however, it is still going to work wonders on your overall energy levels, productivity, ability to focus and learn, and on one’s overall ability to get work done. A college student taking Adderall for say the 500th time, is still going to be able to work for around 8-10 hours straight without complaining about tiredness, or that they need a break, and what I’ve found typically is that if you keep hydrated, and keep your blood sugar up while taking Adderall (remember to eat and maintain a normal, consistent diet) that the drug will last much longer, and will be more efficient throughout the day. Your brain was mean to function on food, water, glucose and sugar, not just straight dopamine-boosting amphetamines, so even if you don’t feel hungry, be sure to give your brain what nature has designated that it needs.
While we’re on the subject, college students tend to frequently use so-called “nootropic stacks,” on top of Adderall in order to make the drug last longer and be more efficient, with mixed results and with many risks and rewards. The following is the full list of the most common and popular nootropics that University students stack with Adderall.
Piracetam-The original nootropic drug, Piracetam was the first nootropic Smart Drug ever created, and since its inception in the early 1960’s, it has spawned the creation of literally dozens of other related Smart Drugs and nootropic supplements.
Aniracetam-Five times more powerful than Piracetam and with an added anti-anxiety effect, making it popular among keynote speakers and by those professionals that are in high-stress jobs.
Oxiracetam-Fifteen times more powerful than Piracetam with its Racetam-type effects, Oxiracetam helps improve mood, memory, focus and most notably energy levels, as it is called the “speedy racetam” by most users for how it boosts productivity and overall energy levels.
Pramiracetam-Thirty times more powerful than Piracetam, and generally speaking the most powerful natural racetam currently available on the online market. Great memory boosting effects, and is super potent so absolutely must be used with a choline source like Alpha GPC or CDP Choline.
Phenylpiracetam-Forty times more powerful than Piracetam, and with an added Phenl molecule that significantly effects the way that Piracetam affects dopamine in the brain. Extremely potent and is hands down one of my overall favorite Smart Drugs, also has great euphoric abilities.
Noopept-1000 times more powerful than Piracetam overall, and with very strong memory and mood boosting effects, Noopept is a very safe and effective Smart Drug for users of all Smart Drug experience levels.
Fasoracetam-100 times stronger than Piracetam, unique and hard to find but extremely effective if you can manage to get your hands on it. I think Smart Drugs for College and Smart Drugs for Thought as well as Amazon and Ebay are currently selling it but who knows if it’ll still be available at the time of writing this article.
Coluracetam-500 times more potent than Piracetam. Coluracetam is unique and is one of my personal favorite nootropics to write about because it improves the way that the brain uses choline, and as such does not require a choline source like most of these other Racetams do. With a built in choline receptor mechanism added into its powerful Racetam effects, everybody loves Coluracetam!
CDP Choline-The most popular, general and standard form of choline currently available.
Centrophenoxine-A unique form of CDP Choline with an added DMAE structure mixed into it.
Alpha GPC Choline-The most powerful form of choline currently available on the market.
Alpha Brain-A strong and natural brain drug supplement stack. While it is somewhat overpriced in my personal opinion, it is certainly very effective, with a primary ingredient of Alpha GPC Choline, and with about thirteen other nootropics blended into its mix, Alpha Brain is effective indeed.
Ciltep-Ciltep is actually a damn good nootropic stack in my opinion, and I have taken it regularly over the years with great benefits. It is meant to mimic the effects of Modafinil and does so by combining Artichoke Extract and Forskolin. While I’ll attest that it is pretty good, it’s not quite up to par with Modafinil’s effects, I’d highly recommend it though for all users.
Uridine Monophosphate-An extended release form of CDP Choline, slightly weaker but lasts much much longer overall.
Ashwagandha-An adaptogen nootropic with great abilities in improving stress levels and helping to lower a users anxiety.
Rhodiola Rosea 3% Salidroside-Around twice as strong as Ashwagandha generally speaking.
Gynostemma-The most powerful adaptogen nootropic currently on the market, highly recommend for anxiety relief and for dealing with stress in your career, work or home.

Famous Authors and Celebrities who Have Admitted to Using and Abusing the Adderall High to Get Successful
A lot of famous people have used Adderall to either simply get high off of, or to reach a type of mainstream success in their career (among their own natural talent and will-power, let’s not give all the credit to a tiny orange pill otherwise 20 million American’s would all be Lindsay Lohan.) There is even a book coming out featuring James Franco called the “Adderall Diaries” that is now being made into a movie because of how prominent Adderall addiction, and the dependence on having a constant Adderall high running through your mind is becoming. Aside from that, notable people such as Oprah Winfrey, Mark Zuckerberg, President Lyndon B. Johnson and even John F. Kennedy have been known to use Adderall and other related ADHD stimulants. Lyndon Johnson used it to pull all-nighters and stay up late doing paperwork while he was president, Zuckerberg used it to stay up for days at a time cranking out code in an attempt to try and build Facebook, and JFK used it to help with his chronic fatigue syndrome.
What is Adderall Withdrawal Like from the Adderall High?
Adderall withdrawal is pretty nasty, and generally speaking can last an incredibly long time due to Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) if you’ve been more of a long-term and chronic user of the amphetamine. The withdrawal from Adderall typically goes a little something like this, if you’re a regular or a chronic user (taken everyday for several years or if you typically use the drug in high dosages ranging from 60-250 milligrams at a time. While this may sound crazy to some readers, I have unfortunately had friends that “broke the 200 mark” nearly every single day-it can be a scary and slippery slope indeed.) Adderall withdrawal typically looks like:
First 2 weeks to 30 days-Typically going to be the acute withdrawal syndrome phase. This is where you’re looking at depression, anxiety, feeling of generally dysphoria and flu-like symptoms as well as feeling generally lucky. Best advice is to pretend you’ve got the flu for about a month, lay around and do nothing but sleep, eat, and watch scary movies as much as possible, it’s going to be an absolute hell but it is possible to break out of it.
1-3 months-In the 1-3 months after, remnants of acute withdrawal are still slightl lingering around, however this is really where you may start feeling like yourself again, and is also where PAWS, or post acute withdrawal syndrome begins to sink it. What this basically means is that there are going to be periods where you go from feeling totally normal to suddenly super depressed. The reason for this is that your dopamine receptors occasionally down-regulate while your brain tries to recover your dopamine to get it back to 100% of the point it was at before. In this stage it is best to resume your normal activities, go to work, go to school, and exercise, hang out with friends, go on dates, do what it takes to get back out in the world and to get your dopamine flowing again.
3-12 months and beyond-Again, back to Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, periods of time of feeling normal with generally stretch and feel longer and longer.
After 2 years-The point at which you are almost totally “cured” if you will, should you manage to remain sober.
As you can see the process of Adderall withdrawal can really be a long and hellish road, so generally speaking, chasing the Adderall high in order to get more and more work done isn’t worth it in my opinion.
The Potential for Adderall Addiction When Chasing the Adderall High
Adderall addiction is very possible if you start chasing the Adderall high, and start regularly lusting after the high and the euphoric feeling that Adderall can give you. The way in which addiction happens is generally a slow and gradual process, and it’ll look something like the following. The first 1-2 months is going to be freaking awesome if you start regularly taking the drug or even if you start infrequently taking it. After this it’ll sort of level off a bit, you’ll develop a tolerance, and you’ll notice you aren’t quite as “sharp” if you don’t take the pill. After around six months of regular use, you basically cannot function without taking your Adderall in the morning, and after years and years of this, you slip into a very deep and dark depression if you aren’t taking your “happy pills,” and if you take the day off and go sober. Adderall can make you go from Limitless to bum pretty quick, and the night and day difference is very much similar to that of the movie “Limitless,” which is essentially a 90 minute trailer for Adderall.
Adderall Tolerance When Using Amphetamine for the Adderall High
Adderall tolerance refers to the phenomenon by which your dopamine receptors become downregulated, and you essentially need more and more of the drug to get the same effect as before, if not just to function in everyday life. Adderall tolerance can be a slippery slope to addiction, so the best case of action once you start to feel it is to take a day or two off here and there once you start noticing symptoms.
How to Minimize Adderall Tolerance with the Magic of L-Tyrosine and Get Back the Adderall High
There are also a number of supplements that you can use to either increase the Adderall high, or help to mitigate the build-up of tolerance to the amphetamine. L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, and L-Dopa, as well as Vitamin B12 and Magnesium, are among these supplements, however L-Tyrosine is the most notable one listed of the former. L-Tyrosine is the stuff of legend, and I know friends of mine who would take grams and grams of it on their off-days from Adderall in order to make sure their receptors were fresh once they went back to Adderall, as well as to maximize how fast they could sober up from Adderall use. If you’re ever noticing your Adderall tolerance level building up to a truly uncomfortable level, take a month off and supplement 3-5 L-Tyrosine capsules daily couples with diet and exercise, you’ll come back a new man (or woman,) and you can lower your dosage significantly or totally ween off once the month is over.
Final Thoughts on the Benefits, Side Effects and Risks of the Adderall High
Well there you have it, the pro’s and con’s, the risks and rewards, the side effects and benefits of the Adderall high, how to use Adderall properly, how to mitigate Adderall tolerance, and how to maximize the effects that Adderall gives you. Adderall is a very strong amphetamine based drug and can surely be neurotoxic in high amounts, it is also freakishly habit forming and is both physically and psychologically addictive to the point where tolerance and addiction can set in rapidly with regular use. I do not recommend Adderall for nootropic use, however if you’re a legitamate ADHD or ADD patient that needs the drug to get through college, work or the like, follow the steps in this guideline, avoid the Adderall high, Adderall euphoria and the high that Adderall can give you as much as possible, keep the dosage low and take frequent breaks from the drug to avoid the build-up of tolerance.
